After a six hour long bus ride, wasting a couple more hours at a Bedouin style restaurant we finally started our trek up Mt. Sinai at midnight. By 4 am we made it to the top!!! (I had a little help from my friend Ahmed, the camel). We shivered our buns off for a while while wrapped in camel blankets and by 5:30 I continued to shiver while watching the sunrise…I managed to take a few pics of the sunrise without freezing my finger off :D
Some people make pilgramages to Mt. Sinai.
This is me at the summit of Mt. Sinai watching the sun rise.
Here is the sun rising!
Shortly after sunrise, we made our way back down the mountain.
The mountain is 2285 m high according to the trusty Wikipedia site.
On our way down. My first time climbing a mountain, and it was awesome.
I could totally climb it again, espeically seeing as how I took a camel up part of the way…I’m a whimp :(

Here I am on top of the mountain. In the background you can see our guide. Nobody is allowed to climb the mountain without a guide.

The Red Sea was awesome!
The blue water was gorgeous and you could see the mountains of Saudi Arabia in the background.

Yup. That was my ride! For more than four months I only drove once, and this was it. I only went 64 km…our guide guy was keeping us in check…and I was a first-timer.
I’m hardcore.
